Hi, I’m Rebekah, and I’m the new head of marketing at First Wealth. There is only one aspect of my marketing strategy that has and never will change: truly wanting to help people, both consumers, and businesses alike. I specialise in hyper-growth marketing and was drawn to First Wealth as I aim to bring visibility to companies that positively impact people’s lives and reflect my own values.
I joined First Wealth at the start of May, and my initial impression is of a firm steeped in both innovation and ethics: they are a profession game-changer in their approach to delivering outstanding services, and they’re also an advocate of gender equality in the workplace, and a B Corp!
My goal is to illuminate the benefits of how financial planning can change an individual’s quality of life, and reach as many people as possible to help them better shape their future. I have always felt very strongly that information on achieving financial wellbeing should be taught more widely. This intensified for me when I became a parent and it felt imperative that my financial health was reflective of the quality of life, I desired for my son both imminently and long term. As such I am glad to now be working on marketing projects that will have a discernible effect on achieving growth at First Wealth to benefit as many clients as possible.
As a marketer I spend a lot of time analysing social media trends and one of my current concerns is the common misconception that it’s easy to live an affluent lifestyle without working too hard (think Instagram posts of people on yachts and living the high life). This fact leads many people to making misguided financial decisions around ‘get rich schemes’ such as crypto-currency and stock schemes. Unfortunately, there is a huge amount of misleading information about money on the internet. Ensuring your financial wellbeing will usually always involve hard work and thorough planning, no matter what stage of life you’re at, be it buying your first home or retiring soon.
Part of how I do my job effectively is through data science and social listening, then applying psychological insights to my marketing strategy. It’s evident across all my recent research, that post-pandemic, everyone has been forced to think about finances in a new way and many of us are making plans that are reflective of our individual experience of the pandemic. Most of these require financial planning to execute such plans and satisfy an intensified need for financial security after living through such uncertain times.
I have really enjoyed immersing myself in data, analytics, and industry knowledge these past few weeks since I started at First Wealth. Learning more about the company and wider profession has already been so enlightening for me personally and I cannot wait to share that with a wider audience through marketing, as well as working closely with the rest of the talented teams to create content that regularly adds more value for existing clients as well.
It’s not only an exciting time for me in my career but in life in general, as lockdown restrictions continue to ease across the UK, and we apply everything we have learned from the pandemic to our lives with a newfound appreciation of just how lucky we are to have freedom and choice again. If there was ever time to take care of your financial wellbeing and move towards your goals – it is now!
